Cape Coral Real Estate : How NOT to save your home

Cape Coral Real Estate brokerage, Florida Future Realty, Inc., brings the best real estate services to those looking to buy or sell real estate in SW Florida.

How NOT to save your home

I just read this article about a woman who shot herself as the sheriff's department was attempting to kick her out of her foreclosed home - read full story here

Please, don't try this at home! If you are having problems with your mortgage try your other options first. Your LIFE is so much more important than a mortgage.

  • Talk to your lender - they may help

  • Talk to Hope NOW

  • Call your mortgage professional - there may be options

  • Call your attorney

  • Call your Realtor - they might be able to sell it. Regular or if needed via a short sale

We work with home owners in SW Florida or owners of properties in SW Florida negotiate short sales. In most cases, it cost you nothing if the bank agrees to the short sale.

We handle all of the paperwork and negotiations.

If you are interested in learning more, feel free to call me at 239-218-2229.

(by the way, they are forgiving her mortgage and letting her keep the house - I hope she makes a full recovery and can enjoy her home for her final years of life)

Hi Susan;

Very nice post and important link. It is very sad.

It's pretty sad when someone goes to such measures over a foreclosure...what has this world come to?

Anthony, Thanks for stopping by. This should have NEVER happened.

Neal, truly sad. I just don't get what must go through people's heads....sad.

So very sad.  I can't believe someone wouldn't just move to an apt or with family before killing themselves.

A few things to keep in mind...

1.  It is hard to keep title to one's property when one ends one's life in front of multiple witnesses. Too much rama, not enough foresight.

2.  Everyone's got their issues.  Heaven knows I have plenty.

3.  Financial strain seems to be a big motivator of stupid decisions.

4.  When in doubt, just put your head down and keep running, even if there's no light at the end of the tunnel...yet.  Remember, it's just a tunnel.  There are only 2 sides.  One way is in, the other way is out.  So as long as you don't backtrack, it's only a matter of time.

Peace out.

Some follow-up stories out of L.A. indicate that a guy up there killed his whole family and himself due to financial problems.

When I was a Realtor in Houston in the late 1970s-early 1980s, when the Texas oil boom was going bust, we had many of these types of stories.

It seems to be a result of too much dedication to material possessions. There's so much more to life than material possessions.

Donna, I know it doesn't make sense :(

Peter, Yes that is true.

Russel, material possessions have ruled Americans for some time now.....

Susan, what an aweful thing to have happen. There are so many families under the strain of foreclosure, with more to come. Such a shame some folks don't think there are any other options for them.

Debbie, Yes it is horrible. This is so sad.
